West Virginia – Gilmer and Calhoun Counties

Marcellus/Utica Leases for Sale

Gilmer County, West Virginia (et al)

Gilmer County (3600 acres)
Calhoun/Roane County Line (far north, 800 acres)
Calhoun/Wirt County Line (far north, 200 acres).

This is a total of 4600 acres that is highly prospective for the Marcellus and Utica, south of Ritchie County and near the Noble Energy Norm #1 pad, where Noble drilled six wells and, to date, has completed two, reportedly with very good volumes. This acreage is offered exclusively by Forte’ Productions. View the map here.

Published data indicates that the Marcellus will be 50-60 feet thick at a depth of 6000-6500 feet and the Utica will be 125-150 feet thick at a depth of 9000-10,000 feet.

All leases are held by shallow production from the Big Injun formation. The leases, production, equipment, pipelines, rolling stock and all appurtenances are included in the package. However, offers for only the Marcellus and Utica rights will be considered with the current owner retaining the shallow rights, production and operations (for the shallow rights).

We expect this opportunity to go quickly, particularly considering that all the leases are held by production and there are no drilling requirements imposed by the lessors or the assignor and essentially no expirations or kicker payments. This includes a 100% working interest in all acreage, no partners, and no back-in or carried interest except overriding royalty.

The leases average 131 acres in size, range from 6 acres to 1000 acres and are reasonably well blocked in several areas.

Further information, including a shapefile, is available upon request.
